Creating a data table

A simple request. I want to create a data table, add some columns with column headings, add some rows with values. And then make this the active data table so that I can put it in a report.

I have looked at various posts but somehow can't make it work.

OK thanks for your help - I have seen this example and I'll take a closer look. Could you also help me to put an image on the report. I need to put 2 images, data table and some text into a report. I am finding this quite complex and seem to be making heavy weather of it.
