How to read bar code number in Image Pro?

    There are several types of BARCODES.  This is documented below.



    I think I remember seeing an IMAGE-PRO PLUS MACRO that would read 1D BARCODES but I do not recall seeing one for IMAGE-PRO (currently V10).

    The IMAGE-PRO LINE PROFILE TOOL can be used to measure the WIDTH of the DARK BARS and LIGHT BARS in the BARCODE as shown below.



    Using CODE in the PROJECT WORKBENCH or within EXCEL, the BAR WIDTHS can be calculated as shown below.



    Since the BAR WIDTHS are relative to the MAXIMUM BAR WIDTH, the angle of the LINE PROFILE LINE does not have to be perpendicular to the BARS.

    If programming IMAGE-PRO to extract the BARCODES is too large a project, I believe their are WINDOWS LIBRARIES that can be acquired and linked to the PROJECT WORKBENCH that will accept an IMAGE and return a BARCODE STRING.  I believe ZXING is one such LIBRARY.
