Discretize an image into a grid of square elements as AOIs

Say I've got this image that needed to be divided / discretized in to a grid of AOIs, which are square and exactly the same size. Then I need to measure the optical density of each small square (AOIs) and possible got the matrix of data. I've attached an image to illustrate my intention. Could anybody help? Thank you so so much!!!

    The easiest way would be to resize the image to the grid size and then show it as a table of intensities (Measure | Bitmap analysis menu item). You can send the data from there to Excel as a matrix.
